The Poetic Style of 'Asi' at the Phonetic Level

Abstract

This research provides a stylistic analysis of the phonetic characteristics of the poetry of the Kurdish poet (Asi). Through the analysis of poetic samples, it sheds light on how the poet utilizes poetic meter, rhyme, and rhetorical arts to craft and form a unique poetic experience. The research attempts to answer the fundamental question of to what extent Asi, through these phonetic techniques, has been able to create a distinct poetic style of his own, one that establishes his poetic identity and distinguishes him from other contemporary poets. The main findings of the research reveal that the poet Asi possesses a special and clear phonetic stamp, which is manifested in a solid triangle: First, the absolute dominance of the Hazaj meter, which lends a lively and attractive musicality and rhythm to his poems; Second, the extensive use of the repetition technique at the vertical level, to condense meaning and deepen the psychological impact; Third, the clever resort to the phenomenon of elision (sound clipping) for the purpose of preserving the precision and beauty of the poetic meter. Together, these three features have created a very special phonetic style for Asi's poetry and have become his hallmark. The research consists of two parts. The first part is divided into several sections, where we have discussed the concept and meaning of style,. In other sections, we have discussed sound in the internal music of the poet's poetry and the poetic forms related to that level.
