Social media and its Role in Achieving Family Security

Abstract

The research problem is defined by answering the following problematic question: To what extent has social media contributed to achieving family security? The research aims to identify the relationship between social media and society. determine the degree of the relationship between social media and family security. Also identify whether there are statistically significant differences according to the research variables. To achieve the research objectives, the researchers relied on the descriptive analytical approach and used a questionnaire tool on a sample of employees at Erbil Polytechnic University, which was defined by the researchers in Erbil city as the study sample. The sample comprised a total of 247 teaching staff members. The main results reached through this research are as follows: social media does not have a positive impact on family security in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq according to the opinions of the research sample, thus rejecting the second hypothesis. Additionally, social media may negatively affect family security in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq based on the opinions of the research sample, which means there is a significant statistical relationship between the variables of social responsibility programs and social security. Moreover, there is a significant impact of the variable of social media on the variable of family security at Erbil Polytechnic University. In light of the results, a set of recommendations and suggestions were proposed. Including: the necessity of promoting the use of social media to benefit from it in living in a healthy and problem-free environment, for the purpose of achieving family security in Kurdish society.

Author Biographies

Hataw K. Khidir, Department of International Marketing and Languages, College of Administrative Technology, Erbil Polytechnic University, Kurdistan Region, Iraq

Hataw is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Marketing and Languages at Erbil Technical Management College, Erbil Polytechnic University. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Tourism from Lebanese University (2015), an M.A. (2004) and B.A. (1998) in Sociology from Salahaddin University, and a B.A. in English Language from Lebanese French University (2020). With an academic and administrative career starting in 1999, she previously headed the Tourism Foundation Administration Department at the Erbil Administrative Technical Institute (2016–2022). Dr. Hataw is a certified Master Trainer with professional diplomas in HRM, NLP, and pedagogy. Her diverse research interests encompass the Sociology and Anthropology of Tourism, Cultural Tourism, Social Development, and Gender Studies.

Aso Weli Mohammed. He has Bachelor degree in Sociology science from Sallahadin University (2002-2006). Master's degree in Sociology from Alexandria University/Egypt (2011-2014).The scientific title:-Assistant Professor, Job position: Assistant of head and Head of the Information and Librarian Department.
