Social Trust and Self-Confidence Among University Students

Abstract

     The main purpose of this study is to determine and measure the level of (self-confidence and social trust) among university students, while showing the role of demographic variables (gender, social status, place of residence, educational stage), on the results of the study.  To analyze the objectives, the researchers used the descriptive method through social surveys for example, for this purpose they prepared a survey form, which consisted of self-confidence scale of (20) items and social trust scale of each other (22) items, in which all the psycho-sociometric analysis for the criteria have been conducted. Meanwhile, 370 students of both sexes were randomly selected in Raparin University. There are 181 male and 189 female students. The researchers used SPSS to analyze the data. The most important findings of this study are: In general, self-confidence of research’s sample is high. While social trust is low, there is also no reasonable difference between men and women in self-confidence. However, there is a reasonable difference between males and females in terms of social trust, with males having more social trust than females. Self-confidence is also higher among married students than among single students, but social trust is higher among single students than among married students. Students living in the city were more self-confident than students living outside the city, but the variable of place of residence did not change the results. Finally, it was found that the fourth stage of university has a higher level of self-confidence than other stages of study, but there is no difference in social trust.
