Geographical Analysis of Poultry Production and Its Role in Food Security of the Population in the Governorates of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Abstract

Livestock is an essential part of the agricultural sector and is important as a planting resource. The total projects are (1818) projects and (33) table egg projects. The study aims to identify the spatial distribution of poultry farming projects, analyze them, and map them in the study area at present, as well as determine the quantities of meat and egg production and their role in securing food. The importance of research is clear in meeting the local need for meat and eggs in achieving self-sufficiency for the residents of the region, as well as its importance in providing job opportunities for the residents of the region. The research has been divided into four parts, First Part: It has been devoted to introducing study area and the terms, Second Part: It discrbes geographical distribution of the rate of poultry pojects, Third Part: It has been devoted to practice of quantitative of poultry role in providing food for research area, and forth Part: It deals with securing food for the population and prospects in the area. We found that Sulaimani ranks first in terms of relative poultry meat value (44.2%), and Halabja ranks last in terms of the value (1.7%). But Erbil ranks first in terms of relative egg value (53.9%), and Duhok is in last place with (22.2%).
