Language Problems of the Kurdish Subject Curriculum of the First Circle - According to the Linguistic-Linguistic Basis

Abstract

The title of this study is "Evaluating Language Issues in the Grade two Kurdish Curriculum Based on Linguistic Principles". It assesses and examines the linguistic challenges present in the Grade 2 Kurdish textbook, analyzing the texts within the book based on language and linguistic principles. The aim is to identify shortcomings in the language of the curriculum and propose corresponding solutions. Thus, the Ministry of Education – Curriculum Department of the Kurdistan Regional Government can be notified of the problems to address them in the upcoming editions.The study utilizes a descriptive and analytical approach to highlight the importance and impact of textbooks in the process of education and teaching. During the evaluation of Grade 2 textbook, it emphasizes on the language problems in writing primary level textbooks in Kurdish and presents some perspectives on the language of writing texts such as using the standard language to write the curricula, focusing on the correct spelling of the letters and words, accurate completion of words, verbs and their abbreviations as well as following morphological and syntactic rules in writing curricula. The curriculum should be designed in a way that includes all the principles of the curriculum. Introducing students to reading and writing language and assessing their progress through different stages is crucial, especially during the primary years. The focus should be on developing writing, reading, spelling, and cohesive writing skills, as this stage is about solidifying letter recognition and writing techniques.
