Literary criticism in the history of literature; For example (New Kurdish Poetry) by (Kakai Fallah)

Abstract

This study aims to investigate literary criticism within the context of literary history, using "The History of New Kurdish Poetry" by Kakai Fallah as a case study. Fallah's book delves into the lives and poetry of nine contemporary poets from the Sulaimani region, aiming to portray their experiences while also offering critical insights into their works. Employing descriptive analysis, the research examines Fallah's critical viewpoint as discussed in the book. It explores the relationship between literary criticism and literary history, and analyzes the role of criticism in shaping historical narratives. Furthermore, it assesses Fallah's use of literary criticism in writing "The History of New Kurdish Poetry" and discusses the necessity or lack thereof of employing criticism in historical writing. Additionally, the author demonstrates both the necessity and the unnecessary use of criticism, drawing on their experience as a historian who has extensively employed literary criticism and critical perspectives in documenting the history of a specific period and region within the development of modern Kurdish poetry. The results of this study reflect Fallah's critical engagement and thorough analysis in documenting the emergence and development of modern poetry in Sulaimani during the early twentieth century, highlighting key trends and shifts in the literary landscape of the time.
