The Role of Environmental Culture in Achieving the Requirements of Sustainable Development
An Analytical Study of the Opinions of a Sample of Managers of Industrial Companies in the City of Erbil - Kurdistan Region of Iraq

The research aims to determine the levels of the study variables, environmental culture with its dimensions (comprehensive participation, environmental awareness and information, environmental education), and sustainable development with its dimensions (economic dimension, social dimension, environmental dimension) in several industrial companies in Erbil city, while diagnosing the relationship and impact between them. The study adopted a general framework by identifying the research problem through several questions centered around the nature of the relationship and impact between the variables. A hypothetical model was designed for the research, consisting of two main hypotheses. The research relied on the descriptive-analytical approach, where the main and sub-variables were described, and the relationships and effects between the research variables were analyzed. The research population consisted of all managers of several industrial companies in Erbil, totaling (120) managers according to data from the General Directorate of Company Registration at the Chamber of Commerce. The research sample was limited to (47) managers, and the hypotheses were tested through a set of statistical analyses using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS V.23). The research results revealed significant relationships between the two variables at both the overall and partial levels. The regression analysis results showed a positive impact of the environmental culture variable on sustainable development, based on the indicators of the analysis at both the overall and partial levels. The research recommended that industrial companies should invest in strengthening the strong relationships between the variables and addressing the weak relationships.
