Using Grice Cooperative Principles in Interpretation Students Essay

Abstract

Students, in their different stages of study, write essays about various topics, essays should be written according to some academic and scientific standards and origins. Whatever these origins are related to the appearance of the essay or related to their contents. In this field, to what extent do students have experience and according to which origin do they write essays? This research under the title (Using Grice cooperative principles in interpretation the students, essay) of Grice’s Theory and according to (Lovejoe’s) model has searched students, essays in the terms of adjectival and statistical ideology. This research aims to know the answers to these questions; during writing an essay, how do students deal with the content of the essay? Do students write word statements and paragraphs according to an academic and scientific basis or do they write in a pyramidal way without following any bases? Are Grice’s cooperative principles able to be something helpful and useful for writing down a successful and improved paragraph? In these research (28) students, paragraphs have been taken. Then the words the sentences and the content of their paragraphs have been separated statistically and they also have been compared with Grice theory principles and the Lovijo model. The results of the study indicate that; the students (65%) missed the whole origins of a successful and academic essay.
